Bangladesh:Heartbreaking violence against Hindus in pics

Bangladesh Minority Watch, a human rights agency has released pictures of its fact-finding missions that it undertook to investigate extreme violence against the Hindu community. The pictures show the extent of material violence that shook the struggling minority but what about the mental agony? None can measure that.

Many Bangladesh Hindus wonder if they can live next to their Muslim neighbors knowing very well that they were the ones who burnt down their houses merely after hearing a rumor that a Hindu insulted their faith. Many also wonder if Bangladesh is heading towards becoming a Pakistan.

The Team visited affected areas of Nasir Nagar Upazila of Brahmanbaria District on 2-3 November , 2016 and later went to to the village Khilgaon and saw the Sree Sree Krishna Chaitannya Mohaprovu Temple (demolished) and Radha Krishna Gour Netai Adaittya Gadadhar Sreevash Temple(demolished & desecrated) within Madhabpur Upazila of Hobigonj District on 02.11.2016.

People conder about their future.

The poor are always the first ones to get affected but there is no one to hear their cries in the corridors of power.

Bangladesh Minority Watch team met with abusive Bangladesh Minister Mohammad Sayedul Haque – Minister for Fisheries and Livestock who was annoyed with the team for investigating the crimes. He told them that “all media and right activists are bogus and they can not serve people. ” During the discussion Md. Rezoanur Rahaman- Deputy Commissioner, Mizanur Rahman -Superintendent of Police, Brahmanbaria and Chowdhury Moazzam Ahmed- Upazila Nirbahi Officer were present. When the team requested the Minister to visit the spot where Hindus are being been subjected to torture because of their religion the Minister said that “Islam is a good religion and there is no discrimination of in Islam.”

The team later demanded that the perpetrators responsible for the crimes against the minorities be brought to book but considering the attitude of the Minister Mohammad Sayedul Haque it seems unlikely that anything would come out of it.
