Awami League leader in the converted path of a Hindu family in Cox's Bazar

Following this, the mother, daughter and son of a Hindu family have been converted to Islam in Cox's Bazar. The incident took place in Ward 4 of Cox's Bazar Municipality on Saturday. A top Awami League leader of the district, a former people's representative and the president of the mahalla were also present at the time.


The incident has created anxiety and panic among the Hindu community in the district. The news of the conversion was also published in a local newspaper of the district on Saturday. The members of the converted Hindu family are Sumi Das, mother of Cox's Bazar ward 4, her daughter Monica Das and son Rupayan Das. Both of them are minors.


According to sources, the family of a resident of Ward 4 of Cox's Bazar Municipality was tempted to convert in various ways. Influential people, including the imam of a mosque in New Baharchhara and a top Awami League leader in the district, were brought in to convert them. So that there is no problem later.


In this regard, the leader of the traditional religion of Cox's Bazar expressed his displeasure and said, "We all know that Awami League is a secular, non-communal and an organization believing in the spirit of liberation war." With this in mind, Bangladesh gained independence in 1971 through a bloody war. But after 50 years of independence, we are seeing the opposite. Now some leaders have become extremists and are targeting minorities, seizing property, attacking them and converting them.


He further said that in protest of the conversion of three members of a Hindu family in Cox's Bazar town, the top Awami League leader of the district was declared unwanted in all religious institutions and demanded that his grants not be taken at the monastery and temple.


Meanwhile, according to the news published by the newspaper, mother Sumi Das, her daughter Monica Das and son Rupayan Das have been converted from Hindu to Islam and have been converted to Khadija, Fatema and Omar Farooq respectively. The family went missing after converting. After learning about the matter, some traditional religious leaders of the district contacted the Sadar police station. But they said they did not know anything about it.
